2008 Hip Hop Leaders World Conference for Peace
In memory of victim’s of gang violence

On Saturday August 16th   1600 Avenue Inc., a 501C3 organization, and its flagship program Hip Hop Leaders (HHL) will bring at risk youth, celebrities, politicians, and community members together to commune in the name of Peace.  Covering some of the main issues our youth face today black and brown conflict, gang violence, and also honoring the memory of victim’s of gang violence including one of its own former HHL students.

 

The Hip-Hop leaders that have signed on to participate in this years events are: Akil (Jurassic 5), Arabian Prince (NWA), DJ Mark Luv (Zulu Nation), Scoop DeVille, Spinderella (Salt N Peppa), Rosco, Jay Rock, Ryan Ford (Source Magazine), Tierra Mari, and Warren G.  These influential Hip-Hop community members will participate in a full days worth of “edu-tainment” consisting of mentoring sessions for the children, reception to kick of the festivities, global town hall meeting to discuss issues of importance, Greek Step show exhibition, live concert performances, and Old School themed after party to close the night and honor the history of Hip-Hop! 

 

Hip Hop Leaders Founder Frank Satterwhite comments, “I’m proud that so many influential people consistently over the years have supported our efforts to use Hip Hop to build positive bridges for at-risk youth and heal communities.  This Conference just reinforces what we already know, that Hip Hop is Education.”

 

Media sponsors KDAY Radio, MySpace, and Fusicology.com are joining forces with The Hip-Hop Leaders conference to publicize one of the greatest educational gatherings of the year.  Community members such as

Congress Member Maxine Waters, Congress member Laura Richardson, Council Member Elect Isadore Hall, and State Assembly member Karen Bass, and Rock Tha Vote will also be in attendance to support this highly anticipated event that will ignite our youth to “be the change” for years to come!
